Bid to increase compensation for asbestos victims fails in the House of Commons
The Mesothelioma Bill was passed yesterday despite opposition from some MP’s. The legislation is designed to assist those who have contracted the deadly disease but have been unable to trace the employer that exposed them to the disease. Whilst the fact that they shall receive compensation is to be welcomed it will be at a level of 75% of of what they would normally be entitled to. This has lead to accusations that it is “watered-down justice” by solicitors.
