Fall in supermarket results in compensation

We have recently settled a matter where our client slipped and fell on vegetable debris in her local supermarket. To the credit of the supermarket they accepted that they were responsible for our client’s accident and admitted liability very quickly. Our client sustained a sprained wrist and we were able to agree settlement at £2,860.00.

For a compensation claim to succeed against a supermarket it will need to be proved that an accident and the resulting injuries were caused by the negligence of the supermarket management or staff. The supermarket has a duty of care to protect customers, as far as reasonably possibly, from having an accident and getting injured on their premises. Many accidents involve people who have slipped on spillages, waste matter or wet floors in supermarkets.  Shires Law has handled many successful claims against supermarkets for these types of accidents.
